"Untainted Eyes"

Children’s Photography Exhibition

108 children participated in the US, Germany, and the Netherlands

"How do children see the world around them?" This exhibition takes an anthropological approach to photography, showcasing images that reflect children’s intuitive responses to their emotions and the world they experience.

No technical skills—such as framing or composition—were required. While the photographs are striking, the goal was not to create "beautiful" pictures. Instead, these unique and artistic images capture the world as seen through the untainted eyes of children, offering a fresh, innocent perspective.

Curated by Sachiko Uozumi, this exhibition stems from photography workshops conducted with 108 children (age 5 to 13) in the U.S., Germany, and the Netherlands. Each child was given a disposable camera and encouraged to photograph anything that caught their attention. For many, it was their first time using a camera, adding authenticity and personal expression to their work.
